Microsoft shows off Windows Mobile 6.5

With leak after leak after leak these past few months, it’s about time we had some official details on Windows Mobile 6.5. That day came today, as Microsoft officially unveiled Windows Mobile 6.5 during their Press Conference at Mobile World Congress 2009 in Barcelona.

Windows Mobile 6.5 brings a heavily refined user interface over it’s predecessor, and focuses mainly on making the UI much more touch friendly.

The OS features an all new lock screen, which now provides basic information such as the total number of text messages, emails and missed calls since the last time you locked your phone, as well as the time, date and upcoming appointments. The lock screen also features sliding "unlock" buttons, similar to that of the iPhone.
